    Why 3 Pillars Strong?

    Most programs that fail people generally only focus through one lens.  And that’s the musculo-skeletal system.  This myopic view doesn’t take into account what’s actually in charge and is making the decisions for you to be in pain or have tight achy muscles.

     

    Your brain and nervous system work to keep you performing at your best every single millisecond of the day (and night).  Even if you have issues going on, your nervous system is trying to keep you moving.  And, if you aren’t moving efficiently and the way you should be, with grace and ease.  Then something needs to change.

    Your nervous system works in a simple manner:

    1. It takes information in through various receptors throughout the body
    2. It processes the information
    3. It gives an output

    The output is your current condition.  If it is pain, tight muscles, immobility, incoordination, it’s because your nervous system decided so.  Generally, your brain is protecting you from yourself.  It’s a survival reflex because it perceives certain information coming in as threatening, so it locks you down and tells you something is wrong by making you feel pain.

    In order to create better outputs, less aches and pains, better performance, better balance and coordination, you have to change your inputs.  In other words you have to target the systems that are taking in the information that the brain processes to create the outputs.

    3 Pillars Strong focuses on targeting three different systems to begin to take the brakes off your body to help you move better and perform everyday activities and the things you want to do with more coordination, better balance with less aches and pains.

    These three systems work together to help you navigate the world and perform the activities you engage in.  If any part of them is compromised your performance suffers and you begin to decline in your ability to function optimally.

    3 Pillars Strong guides you through specific drills and exercises to re-educate your nervous system getting your brain back in tune with your body improving your performance with less stiffness, aches, pains and a better feeling of self-control, more confidence that you can take on the tasks at hand.

    It is a process and will take time but with expert guidance over the next twelve weeks we will dive into:

    Joint mobility training to address your proprioceptive system.  This is the system that takes in information that tells your brain where your body is in time and space.  The clearer the information is, that is coming in, the better picture, or maps, your brain has of you and can then begin to trust you more to give you better muscular outputs.  In other words, you can get stronger and more coordinated becoming a less threat to yourself because you are better at controlling your movements.

    Balance drills to talk to your vestibular system.  You can think of your vestibular system as your equilibrium.  It coordinates information with your visual and proprioceptive systems to reflexively keep you upright and balanced while moving.  Your brain basically wants to protect you from bumping your head.  But, if your vestibular system is compromised it can create postural issues, muscle fatigue, tightness and balance issues.

    Visual drills to help your visual system see the world better.  Clarity is usually what most people think about when it comes to the visual system.  But, that is only one aspect of it.  Your visual system also helps to locate objects in space, how fast they are moving, it helps other areas of your brain predict where things are going to be and then coordinates to help you be in the right place at the right time.  If you can’t move your eyes in specific ways, your world becomes smaller, and your brain becomes threatened because it can’t get enough information to make informed decisions leading to protective reflexes keeping you tight and immobile and possibly pain too.

    These three systems all work together to keep you moving forward in life as efficiently as possible.  If any of them are compromised, your performance suffers, you experience the nervous system’s natural threat response to protect you from yourself and outside elements.

    Eric began his fitness career at the age of 6 when he started training in Martial Arts eventually earning his black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 16.  Over the past 34 years  he has studied several styles of Martial Arts including Tae Kwon Do, Thai Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, and Modernized Philippine Martial Arts.

    How do I get in contact with you?
